Experience the 60’s throwback Sonic Boom Machine – blowing up the 90’s Oakland Explosion – the one-and-only – Tony! Toni! Toné!™ The soon-to-be future-famous family trio scored their first serious breakout gig on Prince’s Parade Tour in 1986. Returning from that blazing run, they formalized the Trio Act with band leader, bro’ D’Wayne, on lead guitar/vocals, younger bro’ Ray, on bass/vocals, and cousin Timothy, on drums/vocals. Delivering a smokin’-hot 10-piece Live Show, they set the Bay Area on fire!

D’Wayne crafted his silky signature chord-melody guitar voicings to lead-off the hit records; and along the way became known as the most influential guitarist/band leader of the 90’s R&B New Golden Era.

In 1988, Tony! Toni! Toné!™ dropped their first - and Gold selling - album, “Who?”, while sporting their first #1 Smash Single, “Hey Little Walter.” In all, they released five albums on Wing/Mercury Records with 14 Billboard charting Singles, including five R&B #1’s and three Top 10 Pop Singles. Their USA album sales alone included one certified Gold Album, two certified Platinum Albums, and one certified Double Platinum Album, with over six million albums sold, & counting. The legend of the Live Show also grew.

After their huge 5-album set, lil’ bro’ Ray went solo as Raphael Saadiq; and, cousin Timothy blew up as a Gospel/R&B producer/writer. Meanwhile, commencing in 1995, D’Wayne launched his production company, Grass Roots Entertainment. He mentored a stunning series of youthful future female superstars, including Destiny’s Child, Alecia Keys, Keyshia Cole, Zendaya, Kehlani, and H.E.R.!!

Ultimately, D’Wayne also catapulted PopLyfe to stardom on “America’s Got Talent”, which included his two sons Dylan and Jayden, and the amazing teen musicians finished 4th in the finale round.

In 1998, D’Wayne , itching to play live, reactivated the “60’s throwback Sonic Boom Machine,” with other cousins and friends. Setting the Live Show ablaze again, smokin’ hot Tony! Toni! Toné! ™ slammed the House Party Celebration full tilt. A fan-frenzied, foot-stompin’ timeless and legendary show of #1 hits.

The New Millennium year, 2000, brought D’Wayne’s star-studded Motown solo album, “Eyes Never Lie.” Showcasing D’Wayne’s Texas Blues roots, it featured some of his favorite, fellow A-List Legends, Carlos Santana, Darius Rucker, and Jamie Foxx. The studio session crew that D’Wayne amassed was among Oaktown’s Baddest. Of the most outstanding were Vern Hall (Bass-Vocals), Mike “D” (Keys-Vocals), and Ric Alexander (Saxes). From 2000 onward, Vern, Mike and Ric continued with Tony! Toni! Toné!™, on the Live Show tours. CURRENTLY: additional Studio & Live Show Alumni players on-tour include Levi Seacer Jr. (Guitar/2001) “Qyu” Jackson (Drums/2015), Dyson Tate (Lead Vocals/2018), Frank Stickemz (Vocals- percussion/2018), Candice Smith (Violin/2022), Singa “B” (Guitar-Lead Vocals/2024) Wilton Rabb (Guitar/2025). Several Alumni players and Original Trio Act members no longer tour with the Live Show.

Breaking News: As many now know, D’Wayne passed away from cancer in March 2025. Over the years, he continued recording for film, other artists, and new “Sonic Boom Songs!” Even up to his final days, he remained On-Stage and in the Studio. And NOW! For the first time since the 5th album, Tony! Toni! Toné! ™ will release a NEW recording, “Always In Season” featuring Tower of Power Horns and Dyson” Plus the Boomin’ 60’s Sonic Boom Machine Live Show is BACK!!, on the road – again – with two seasoned pro guitarists, Wilton Rabb (Graham Central Station) and D’Wayne’s finale protégé artist, Memphis blues phenom, singer/guitarist/entertainer, Singa “B”, coming to a Rockin’ Slam-Jam near you!
