His credits include gigs with funk and soul legends Tower of Power, Booker T. Jones, and Zigaboo Modeliste. He got his R&B groove on with Ledisi and Martin Luther ; and rocked with Bonnie Hayes, Charlie Peacock and Eric Martin played jazz with Joyce Cooling, Henry Robinett, and Peter Horvath; and played bass, sang and or produced many of the tracks for the hugely popular video game series' Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Hero, and RockBand.

  • Joel Del Rosario

Guitarist and Songwriter Joel Del Rosario first trained in Viola. Joel studied, performed, and was second chair in the San Francisco School of the Arts Orchestra. But jazz was his real passion. So he soon chose the guitar as his favorite instrument. Robyn Kazmarcyk and later Elroy Jones were his mentors. He also attended the prestigious Stanford University Jazz camp during high school.

Joel has just released his third album Coast To Coast after his previous albums All Him and Calm In the Storm. All tracks were self written & arranged by Joel with the exception of  God Is Able, written by Don Moen & sung by Ron Kenoly and his choir. All the guitars, bass, keyboards, and sequencing were done by Joel. A genuine self-produced album.

Hey It's the Weekend is like Saturday Night Fever meets Smooth Jazz. While Joel performs some sultry guitar loops, rhythm and strings bring back some disco feeling. Music for your good time.

Coast to Coast continues the positive spirit and mood. Joel describes his themes with quick guitar riffs and his crystal clear guitar sound is enthusing his audience. Seattle is Joel's tribute to the vibrant city in the Pacific Northwest and the state of Washington. This outstanding well-arranged song is the first highlight of the album.

Joel reveals his Christian heritage with the spiritual track God is Able. Latin music and Gospel melts into a mesmerizing uplifting piece. Joel sampled Ron Kenoly's choir but totally re-arranged the song. The mid-tempo Get You in the Groove brings more sunshine in your life.

Joel has an undisputable feeling for great compositions as he illustrates with One Way Street Remix with crisp guitar chords. The romantic Midtown features Joel's friend and sax player Melecio Magdaluyo, who is currently the jazz instructor at the School of the Arts San Francisco, where Joel went to school.  He has played with Pete Escovedo, Bobby Brown, and many artists including Wayne Wallace.

They that Wait is Joel's short excursion into the Blues genre. Another good opportunity to give us a taste of his multi-faceted talent. Listening to Always Faithful I recall with greatest respect that Joel performs all instruments on his album in a impressive perfection. His sense for immaculate melodies is unsurpassable. Final piece of this album is the intoxicating Been Good to Me. Joel follows the melody with different styles always keeping this smooth ballad in balance.

With George-Benson-like fluidity Joel Del Rosario rivals on his new album Coast To Coast every proficient smooth jazz guitarist.

  • Roger Smith

Roger Smith was born to play the Hammond organ, and destined to become a member of Tower of Power. Since 1998, Roger has been a part of the Tower Sound, drawing on all of his earlier experiences and influences to lead him to where he is today.

From the time he was a child Roger played piano and took music lessons. His early musical education began in church but because of creative limitations he soon lost interest. At that time, Roger and his family had moved from Texas to Sacramento, CA. As fate would have it, a fellow 6th grader who lived down the street had an uncle who's occupation would change young Roger's musical tastes forever. Philadelphia's Jimmy McGriff, a legendary jazz organist had a brother that lived just a few doors down from the Smith's. During a visit, Roger was introduced to a sound that fascinated him, the Hammond B-3 organ. Jimmy McGriff taught him a couple of signature blues songs, "Down The Road A Piece" and "Little Red Rooster". From that time on the keyboard, and the Hammond organ in particular, became an important part of Roger's life.

After spending some time in the service, Roger, now 20 years old and living in Austin, Texas, formed a band called "Blind Mellon". His band mates in Blind Mellon were are very young Eric Johnson on guitar, and Roscoe Beck on bass. Roger was honing his keyboard skills and becoming well known in the area. At this point, he was ready to move from the garage to the stage. In 1971, Roger was given an opportunity to fill in for a member of Freddie King's band for about 5 weeks. This would be another life-changing event that led Roger to work with many other artists such as Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Louden Wainwright III.

Now residing in the capitol of CA, about an hour from the East Bay area, Roger had heard about Tower of Power and went to see them perform many times even before they added keyboardist Chester Thompson. Smith recalls "When I saw Tower of Power with Chester Thompson, well no one sounded like him. His style is very unique." Now working as a professional musician, Roger was a member of "Sunbear" which was the house band for the immensely popular television show "Soul Train". Roger held that position for and was on the road after that with artists like Gladys Knight, Harvey Mandel, Jeff Beck, and Jan Hammer. Smith refers to himself as a utility player at that point in time, working in many different situations as a keyboard artist.

One of Roger's friends happened to be Norbert Stachel, Tower of Power's lead tenor sax player at that time. At a time when Tower was making some personnel changes, Norbert suggested that the band listen to Roger Smith, and as a result, he has been TOP's keyboard player ever since. According to Roger, when he is on stage with Tower of Power, he goes through many different emotions. Smith says when they are in the groove, "It's the best feeling there is."

Touring extensively with Tower of Power, Roger gets to all parts of the US, Europe, and Asia each year. Still, Roger finds time to play gigs with other Northern CA musicians, and has a solo career with many solo CD's to his credit.

Roger’s latest project is “Just Another Day”, featuring appearances by Dave Garibaldi, Jeff Tamelier, Tony Lindsey, Tom Politzer, Bill Ortiz, Marcus Scott and Mic Gillette.

All band member biographies were compiled by Leo Sacks.

Leo Sacks is a freelance record producer in New York. With Emilio Castillo, he co-wrote “Happy ‘Bout That” and “Stranger In My Own House” for Tower of Power’s Oakland Zone (Or Music, 2003), and the bonus track “Nothing Like It” for the European edition.
  • Yvonne Flores

Yvonne Flores is a San Francisco born jazz vocalist and composer. On the wings of a successful debut of which she wrote 7 of the songs, the album titled ‘Sheer Bliss’ is receiving national airplay and most recently, has been added to Sirius XM’s Real Jazz radio. Yvonne has also received exceptional reviews from some of the most reputable publications and online sites.

    Review from ALLABOUTJAZZ.COM

“Yvonne Flores and her debut album is musical magic from a wonderful singer armed with a sensuous voice that is sure to grab critical attention. There are a great number of female vocalists on the jazz scene; many are good, some are average, others poor but few have made such a graceful and memorable entrance as Yvonne Flores does on the well titled Sheer Bliss" (reviewed by Ed Blanco)

Contributing to the musicality of the album includes some of the industry’s musicians. Producer/guitarist Ray Obiedo, percussionist Pete Escovedo, flutist Elena Pinderhuges and Santana Band members pianist David K Matthews, trombone and trumpet Jeff Cressman and Bill Ortiz.

Inspired by musical legends Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra and Joni Mitchell amongst others, Yvonne brings an eclectic live show performance, which will showcase songs from her album that highlights her unique stylings in jazz, contemporary pop as well as a sprinkle of Latin and Brazilian rhythms. Yvonne also reworks timeless standards from the Great American Songbook with captivating modernity and refreshing musical style which infuses her unique delivery and upbeat vitality, heartfelt emotion, and exciting texture. A powerful and highly expressive live performer.
