  • Table Seating is all ages, Bar Area is 21+. Bar Area tickets for patrons under 21 will not be honored.

  • Groups larger than 10 must purchase a group package at club@bluenote.net, or by calling 212.475.8592.
  • Groups larger than 10 without a group package will be subject to group surcharges added to your bill. 
  • Groups arriving late or separately are not guaranteed to be seated together. All seating is first come, first served. Arrive early for best seats.

  • The NYU Charles Mingus Ensemble

    Charles Mingus' compositions and arrangements provide the foundation for extended improvisation and group interplay. Mike Richmond was the musical director of the original Mingus Dynasty.

  • Mike Richmond

    Professor Mike Richmond's wealth of experience and world presence have enriched NYU's Jazz program for over thirty years. Richmond has represented the United States as a guest lecturer at the International Symposium on Jazz Pedagogy in Mulhouse, France. Professor Richmond was the recipient of the NYU Esteemed Faculty Award (1992) and the Department of Music and Performing Arts Profession's Teacher of the Year award (1994). His book Modern Walking Bass Technique (Ped Xing Music) is used worldwide as one of the leading texts on jazz bass technique.
    He has won Grammy Awards with Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, and the Philadelphia Orchestra and has been featured on over 300 recordings (16 solo). In addition, Professor Richmond has recorded/performed with Bobby McFerrin, Stan Getz, Pat Metheny, BB King, Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Charles Mingus Big Band/Orchestra/Dynasty, Jack DeJohnette, Roy Haynes, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, Kenny Wheeler, Clark Terry Quartet & Big Band, Ravi Shankar, John Scofield, Lee Konitz, Randy Brecker, Michael Brecker, Tom Harrell, Art Farmer, Don Cherry, Marian McPartland, Archie Shepp, Eddie Harris, Joào Gilberto, Astrid Gilberto, Henry Mancini, Michel Legrand, Elvin Jones, Dannie Richmond, John Abercrombie, Billy Hart, Phil Woods, Hubert Laws, Gil Evans Big Band, Thad Jones & Mel Lewis Big Band, Woody Herman Big Band, Glenn Miller Big Band, Buddy DeFranco, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Knepper, Bill Watrous Big Band, Toots Thielemans, Roland Kirk, Hank Jones, Bobby Timmons, Jeremy Steig, Sheila Jordan, Toshiko & Lew Tabackin Big Band, Benny Golson, Mose Allison, Milt Jackson, Los Angeles CBS Orchestra, Chico Hamilton, Sonny Stitt, Sam Rivers, Tommy Flanagan, Sir Roland Hanna, Kenny Barron, Gàbor Szabò, Richie Havens, Ben E.
