Blue Note Hawaii
Paul Shimomoto presents Music from the Sinatra Songbook

Paul Shimomoto

For one night, the glamour, romance, and swing of Sinatra’s songbook come alive in Waikīkī. Hawaii vocalist and crooner, Paul Shimomoto, makes his Blue Note Hawaii debut with a stylish journey through the music of Frank Sinatra—from the exhilarating swing of his classic recordings to romantic ballads and some of the most enduring standards ever written.

This is not an impersonation. Shimomoto brings his own voice and personality to the music, combining timeless songs with stories, humor, and the intimacy and spontaneity of a great jazz-club performance.

Behind him is an exceptional ensemble of Hawaii jazz artists: Dan Del Negro on piano, DeShannon Higa on trumpet, Reggie Padilla on saxophone, Mark Tanouye on bass, and Noel Okimoto on drums.

Think Waikīkī after dark, a great band, a great cocktail, and songs that never go out of style.

  • Paul Shimomoto

Paul Shimomoto is an award-winning Honolulu-based vocalist whose performances capture the elegance, charm, and timeless appeal of the Great American Songbook. Often described as both “The Hawaiian Sinatra” and “Hawaii’s Michael Bublé,” Shimomoto delivers a refined, immersive musical experience inspired by the golden era of Las Vegas—blending classic repertoire with modern polish and engaging showmanship. Backed by his ensemble, Paul Shimomoto & The Rat Pack Revue, he recreates the sophistication of a vintage showroom where music, storytelling, and audience connection come together seamlessly. His performances go beyond a traditional concert—offering a complete entertainment experience rooted in swing, style, and charisma. Shimomoto’s musical career was launched after winning the Hapa Haole Music Festival Vocal Competition, and he has since earned Hawaii Music Awards recognition for his recordings, including Sentimental Alibi and All That Hawaiian Jazz, both recognized on Hawaiian Grammy ballots. His work reflects a deep respect for classic standards while introducing a distinctive island-influenced sensibility. A fixture in Hawaii’s live music scene, Shimomoto has performed at many of the state’s most respected venues and private clubs, including Lewers Lounge, MidPacific Country Club, The Pacific Club, Outrigger Canoe Club, The Royal Grove at Royal Hawaiian Center (Helumoa), and The Veranda at The Kahala Hotel & Resort—consistently delivering a polished, high-end experience tailored to discerning audiences. His appeal extends beyond Hawaii. Shimomoto has performed internationally in Japan, including appearances at the prestigious Imperial Hotel Tokyo, bringing his signature sound to global audiences. He has also shared the stage with some of Hawaii’s most celebrated artists, including Robert Cazimero, Nina Kealiʻiwahamana, and Mahi Beamer, and has opened for Grammy-winning artist LeAnn Rimes. A key strength of Shimomoto’s act is its versatility and scalability. While he is known for his full 6-piece ensemble (classic Rat Pack sound) or 8-piece band (full big-band energy), he also offers smaller, more intimate configurations—including duo, trio, and quartet formats—ideal for lounges, private events, and venues seeking a more refined, close-up experience. Each configuration maintains the same level of musicality, polish, and audience engagement, tailored to the setting. Whether performing in an intimate jazz lounge or on a grand ballroom stage, Shimomoto delivers with effortless style, warmth, and professionalism. From the first note to the final encore, he offers what audiences consistently describe as: “A night of timeless songs, timeless style, and unforgettable music.”
