Celebrating José A. Fajardo
Join us for a celebration full of live music, good eats, a teensy bit of ALS advocacy and a room full of amazing people who love José A. Fajardo, the recently retired president and general manager of Hawai‘i Public Radio.
This Fall also marks FIVE YEARS since the onset of José’s earliest symptoms of what was eventually diagnosed as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. While the rate at which ALS progresses for each person living with the disease is quite variable, the mean survival time is two to five years with only about 20% of people with ALS living for five years. While it hasn’t been easy, this is a milestone to celebrate!
Artist Line Up:
- Justin Murata, Shon Kihewa, and Blair Sataraka of 'Anakala
- Mark Caldeira and Darrell Aquino of Kailua Bay Buddies
- Sonny Silva, Joshua Kaye, and John Kolivas of Hulaville Rhythm Aces
Proceeds from event ticket sales will support José’s ongoing care as he and his wife Jennifer continue to navigate the increasingly challenging and costly realities of living with such a devastating illness. Together, they chronicle his experiences living with ALS at https://teamjose.com/
