Blue Note Hawaii
Ken Makuakane & Jeff Dayton

    Ken Makuakane & Jeff Dayton
With Special Guests A’ea’e and Johnny Helm

Kenneth Makuakāne is one of Hawaii’s most prolific and celebrated artists, producers and writers ever. He’s earned well over a dozen Na Hoku awards, the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammy Awards. His love of the islands and their musical heritage comes through in his melodies and lyrics and he’s a dynamic guitarist and ukulele performer as well. His tours have taken him from Asia to Europe and all across the USA, but his love for Hawaii keeps him home. He loves to “talk story” and wrap his performances in the spirit of his life. Truly, the Island Boy.

Jeff Dayton was Glen Campbell’s bandleader and guitarist for 15 years and he’s also toured on guitar with mega-star Kenny Chesney. His songs have been recorded by George Strait and heard on Hawaii Five-O and The Voice. He says, “I’m country, but it’s about eight lanes wide.” His jazz roots include stints with Dizzy Gillespie and Thad Jones and he’s backed stars like Bo Diddley, Mac Davis, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill and Buck Owens. Jeff has evolved into a master storyteller and always has a connection to the songs he plays, whether they’re his or hits from the stars.
