Over the last two decades International acclaimed bassist, singer, composer and leader Avishai Cohen, has earned his reputation as one of the world's greatest bassists. It is however as a composer that his musical statement has grown extensively through out the world .Now with this unique trio formation he brings fresh original compositions from his latest album ‘Arvoles’ to the stage, as well as performing many audience favourites from ‘Gently Disturbed ‘( 2008) among other releases and past live shows.

The energy Avishai has put into bringing the bass under the spotlight has pushed the boundaries of jazz and earned him international awards and recognition globally. He has continuously performed at the most renowned venues and festivals worldwide and it has enabled him to develop a strong network of followers and listeners, striking a chord with the audience wherever he has performed. The stage is undoubtedly a place where Avishai feels at home, so much so that attending one of his live performances is probably the best way to get acquainted with his musical universe.

DownBeat magazine noted Avishai as a “jazz visionary of global proportions” while Bass magazine declared him as one of the 100 most influential bass players of the twentieth century.

Accompanying Avishai on stage after a successful series of concerts last summer at the Blue Note Club New York Shai Maestro (p) one of the most promising and talented pianists of his generation. Since his debut with his own trio in 2011, Shai has shaped a strong and unique personal identity and has portrayed an incredible music fluidity, and Mark Guiliana (d) (USA) who has become recognized as one of the world’s leading drummers, admired and in demand across the spectrum from jazz to rock and electronic music for his rhythmic sophistication, creative impulse, and individual sound.

This week’s residency at the Blue Note Club New York will be the only Avishai Cohen performances in the US in 2020 as part of the global project ‘505050’. Avishai Cohen has chosen to mark a pivotal stage in his artistic and personal development with a fittingly exciting project., the year of his 50th birthday he will perform 50 concerts in 50 countries right around the world. Rather than simply embarking upon an extended trans-continental tour Cohen will symbolize in the most direct and adventurous way the most personal theme of his work to date: music as a means of uniting people across what might be seen as cultural differences. By literally crossing borders he will be figuratively breaking down barriers, presenting his songs as a kind of musical ‘Esperanto.’
