  • Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes

    Nicolas Reyes has been the leader and co-founder of the Gipsy Kings for over 30 years, during which the group has dominated the World Music charts and sold more than 14 million albums worldwide. This musical legacy began with Nicolas’ father, Jose Reyes, who formed a celebrated flamenco duo with Manitas de Plata—boasting fans as iconic as Miles Davis and Pablo Picasso. After his father's band, Los Reyes, paved the way, Nicolas eventually formed the Gipsy Kings, translating the family name to reflect their "perpetual motion" lifestyle.

    The band’s influence on popular culture is vast. Their rendition of “Hotel California” was famously featured in The Big Lebowski and Entourage, while their version of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” highlighted the 2010 film Toy Story 3. Recently, Nicolas appeared in person alongside John Turturro for the Big Lebowski spinoff, The Jesus Rolls.

    Beyond the accolades—including a 2013 Grammy for Best World Music Album for Savor Flamenco—the Gipsy Kings’ music is rooted in a deep ancestral history. Their sound reflects the peripatetic journey of the Spanish Romani people who fled Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War. As the group continues to perform on world-class stages like the Hollywood Bowl and Royal Albert Hall, Nicolas remains focused on the future, intending to eventually pass the Gipsy Kings legacy down to their sons.
