MOBO winner and two-time Jazz FM Vocalist of the Year Zara McFarlane has built a remarkable catalogue spanning jazz, reggae and the musical traditions of her Jamaican heritage.
From her jazz roots, honing her craft with Tomorrow’s Warriors, Zara continues to push musical boundaries, and this performance comes just two days before the special 10th anniversary release of her critically acclaimed album Arise, an exploration into the folk and spiritual traditions of her ancestral motherland, Jamaica, on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label.
Opening the night, London trio Sula offer a glimpse of what comes next, bringing original music shaped by the mentorship of Gary Crosby, Denys Baptiste and the wider Warriors community.
Tomorrow’s Warriors is an organisation that has spent 35 years nurturing emerging talent in British jazz, with alumni including Ezra Collective, Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings and Moses Boyd.
