Blue Note Napa will close its doors on New Year’s Eve 2025 with a special performance by Brian Culbertson, marking the end of an extraordinary era at the historic Napa Valley Opera House.

While a defining chapter for one of the region’s most beloved music venues is closing, the door is opening to a exciting new chapter for Blue Note in northern California.
Since opening in 2016, Blue Note Napa has played a defining role in transforming the live music scene in the Napa Valley. Over the past decade, the club has hosted hundreds of performances by some of the most celebrated names in music, including Chris Botti, Kenny G, David Sanborn, Carlos Santana, Billy Gibbons, Al di Meola, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Bob James, among many others. Its intimate setting, exceptional sound, and dedication to hospitality helped establish Napa as a world-class destination for live music.

The club served as the creative engine behind many of Blue Note’s broader Napa Valley initiatives, including the Blue Note Jazz Festival, the Blue Note Napa’s Summer Sessions at The Meritage Resort and Spa, and Oxbow RiverStage. While the Opera House chapter is coming to a close, Blue Note remains deeply rooted in the region through these projects and its continued partnerships across the Valley.
Blue Note Napa’s live music presence in Napa Valley will not only continue, but will grow with its 2026 Summer Sessions concert series at The Meritage, where it plans an expanded schedule in 2026 of as many as 40 shows for audiences of up to 3,000 people. The 2025 Summer Session highlights included The Palm Tree Festival featuring Kygo and Chainsmokers, Boz Scaggs, Chelsea Handler, Violent Femmes, Young the Giant, Juanes, Grace Jones, Santigold, and many more. Additionally Blue Note Napa is preparing to launch similar events to those formerly produced at Oxbow RiverStage at Napa Valley College and is exploring expanding upon the success of its new outdoor series at The Ruins in American Canyon, which launched in September with EDM DJ Kaskade.

“Blue Note Napa has always been about bringing people together through great music and shared experiences and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built and grateful to the artists and audiences. I would especially like to give a special shout out and huge thank you to the Napa community that embraced and supported us though the past 9 plus years. We would not have been able to accomplish what we have without the incredible Napa locals. Though our time at the Opera House is ending, this is far from the end – it’s an evolution. While continuing our significant outdoor presence in Napa Valley we are looking forward to the very exciting opportunity for Blue Note in San Francisco.”
– Ken Tesler, Managing Director of Blue Note Napa
As Blue Note looks toward the future, the club is moving out of Napa and actively seeking a new home in the San Francisco Area. Discussions are underway and much progress has been made in determining a location in San Francisco for the club. The goal is to create a venue that captures the same energy, intimacy, and artistic excellence that made Blue Note Napa a success.

“As we look ahead, we’re excited about the opportunity to finally bring Blue Note to San Francisco. The Bay Area has such a rich musical heritage, and we’ve long envisioned having a presence in the city. We look forward to creating a space that reflects the energy and spirit of the San Francisco while staying true to the intimacy and authenticity that define Blue Note.”
-Steven Bensusan, President of Blue Note Entertainment Group
Blue Note recently expanded its California presence with the opening of Blue Note Los Angeles, joining its flagship clubs in New York, Tokyo, and other major cities around the world. The company aims to continue building on this momentum in the Bay Area, bringing the same creative and cultural spirit that has defined the Blue Note experience for more than four decades.
