Born and raised in New York City, Paul Josephs honed his skills as a guitarist under the watchful eyes of some of Harlem’s finest underground jazz and blues legends including Rodney Jones and Moose and the Bullet Proof Blues Band. He went on to record a live album, as an emcee, with jazz guitar great Rodney Jones's Soul Manifesto project, and to tour with such musical legends as Maceo Parker, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Idris Muhammed, and Arthur Blythe. An accomplished guitarist, producer, singer, and emcee, Josephs has produced or performed, toured with, or recorded with such notable artists as Beyonce, Alice Smith, Groove Collective, Jean Grae, Citizen Cope, The Roots, Baba Israel, Toni Blackman, Imani Uzuri, D.J.Chela, Ra-Re Valverde and rock collective Earth Driver. In 2006 he set out to make his own musical passions a reality when he formed MetroSonics. Their debut record is a unique blend of hip-hop, jazz, blues, rock, and soul. Altogether, MetroSonics’ music blurs the lines of musical genres and presents a fluid, fresh new approach that has broad appeal. |
