In Celebration of His New Piadrum Records Release "Internet"

Virtuoso bassist and composer Charnett Moffett will celebrate the release of his new CD Internet. This is Charnett Moffett's ninth CD and his second release on Piadrum, following 2004's acclaimed For The Love Of Peace. Consisting of 16 original compositions plus his very personal version of "The Star Spangled Banner," Moffett displays his virtuosity in a bass ensemble of acoustic, piccolo bass, fretless and bass guitar.

Moffett has supported some of the finest musicians in jazz for over 20 years.

Born on June 10, 1967, Charņett Moffett grew up in a musically active household. His father, the renowned jazz drummer Charles Moffett Sr., was a member of Ornette Coleman’s trio of the mid 1960s as well as leader of the Moffett Family Band. In fact, Charņett’s name is a contraction of Charles and Ornette.

As a child prodigy, Charņett first appeared on record at the age of seven in 1974 with the Moffett Family Band, and at 16, he joined Wynton Marsalis’ quintet, later appearing on the Grammy Award-winning "Black Codes from the Underground."

As a leader and a sideman, he played with some of the world's finest, including Michael Brecker, Kenny Kirkland, Al Foster, Stanley Jordan, Mino Cinelu, Ornette Coleman, Kenny Garrett, Geri Allen, Cyrus Chestnut and his father Charles Sr.
