NYU Jazz Brunch: Rich Shemaria Big Band
FEATURING:
Directed by pianist/composer Rich Shemaria

Woodwinds: Dave Pietro, Dave Mann, Rich Perry, Marc Phaneuf & Frank Vacin

Trumpets: Bob Millikan, Alex Sipiagin, Jim O'Connor & Andy Gravish

Trombones: Dave Bargeron, Alan Ferber, Nick Grinder & Joe Barati

Rhythm section: Brad Shepik (guitar), Rich Shemaria (piano), Jerry DeVore (bass) & Steve Johns (drums)

Rich Shemaria is a prolific composer and arranger in New York City. He has written pieces for Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, Michael & Randy Brecker, Lenny Pickett, Teo Macero, Wayne Krantz, Stefon Harris, George Garzone, Combo Nuvo, Little Jimmy Scott, Roberta Gambarini, Don Friedman and the Airmen Of Note, amongst others.



Shemaria served as the director of the UMO Jazz Orchestra in Helsinki, Finland from 1994-96. Since 2003, he has been teaching composition/arranging at the NYU Steinhardt School, and directing the renowned NYU Jazz Orchestra. Shemaria has been on the Steinhardt Jazz composition faculty since 2003, and is currently the Jazz Composer in Residence at NYU.
