Julian Coryell

Julian Coryell began playing music at the tender age of five. Son of famed Jazz guitarist Larry Coryell, Julianís musical gifts were nourished, and he's been playing guitar and singing ever since.

The Coryell household was never lacking in musical visitors. Julian was exposed to everyone from Miles Davis to James Taylor. At 16 he entered the Berklee College of Music and became it's youngest graduate two years later at 18.

Since then, he's toured, written and recorded with an eclectic array of artists including Alanis Morissette, Leonard Cohen, Madeleine Peyroux, and Joe Sample to name a few. He's released his own solo records on Universal, Sony, and GRP. His latest project, The Julian Coryell Trio, has quickly become one of the most entertaining live groups on the music scene (with a fervent cult following to prove it). While the group is known for Jazz, the term is used loosely, as their ability to morph from Be-Bop and Fusion to Blues, Soul and beyond has become a staple of their live act. Past performances have found them playing the Beatles 'Abbey Road' in it's entirety to Miles Davis's 'Kind of Blue' from top to bottom. A JC Trio show is more of an experience than just a concert. No two shows are the same. This authentic improviser's approach, in a world of would be Jazz musicians (who often play the same things over and over) is what keeps music lovers coming back for more. To witness one of their high-wire performances is nothing short of thrilling, and will undoubtedly leave the listener with musical memories to last a lifetime.
