Thank you for your interest in the Blue Note jazz clubs and our licensing opportunities. The Blue Note, world's finest jazz clubs,
are synonymous not only with great jazz in an intimate setting, but
also critically acclaimed food, top notch service, and a gift shop
with an eclectic array of exclusive merchandise.
The flagship New York club was the first to earn the distinction of being the
world's finest jazz club and restaurant. The late Billy Eckstine,
Lionel Hampton, Buddy Rich, Carmen McRae, and Sarah Vaughn, in addition to
Ray Charles, George Benson, Tony Bennett, Oscar Peterson, and Nancy Wilson,
are just a few of the superstars that have called the Blue Note home.
Since opening its doors in 1981, the Blue Note New York has always opted for
quality. It's proven success is a winning combination of location, ambiance,
and imaginative presentation. Dizzy Gillespie became a regular attraction early
on, and special appearances over the years by the Modern Jazz Quartet, Wynton
Marsalis, Wayne Shorter, Bobby McFerrin, and Chick Corea have indeed added
to the club's cachet.
The Blue Note Jazz Clubs are the world's only franchised or licensed network
of Jazz Clubs. The Blue Note opened its first international location in Tokyo
, Japan in 1988. Since then we have expanded further in Japan to Osaka , Fukuoka
, and Nagoya . Blue Note inducted its first European club to the family, March
2003 in Milan , Italy.
The Blue Note New York maintains the quality of each venue through its talent-buying
network to ensure that the biggest names in Jazz perform at each club. The
Blue Note assumes a consulting role with each licensee to include finding the
proper location for the club, design, décor, marketing, advertising,
staffing and food and beverage quality control.
The Blue Note evaluates the qualifications of a potential licensee based on their
experience in the restaurant/nightclub/hospitality industry, their financial
standing and their vision for the club in their respective city.
The Blue Note is one of the most recognized and respected names in jazz and
possibly all of music. We take great care in protecting the reputation we have
all worked hard to build, and this translates to the franchising process.
